Here we are for tip number two!
In recent times there seems to have been an explosion of websites and companies offering you car purchasing services for your vehicle. You know the type, they all have a similar name like, “We’d Like any and every car dot com”. And they all promise to purchase your car at a great value freeing up your opportunity to go to the car dealership as a CASH BUYER because buying a car CASH means you get the best deal, right……. WRONG!!!
Firstly let me explain how most of these sites operate. They will take your vehicle registration, a description of your car and it’s current mileage (all completed by you online) then based on that data, they will provide you with an instant quotation for purchasing your car off you instantly (subject to inspection).
Great huh? Easy, fast and a guaranteed price (subject to inspection).
My advice to you is this, yes, consider this as an option however, do not take it unless absolutely necessary. My experience of these sites is that they will hit you hard on your cars valuation. They will be overly conservative and this does not represent the true market value for your vehicle.
Take the car to a couple of dealerships also, and get their part exchange valuation. Ask the dealer to be honest with you and get them to confirm. “What is the Glass’s Guide and or CAP Guide Price for my car” If they offer you more, it’s probably discount from the new car (you’ve still saved money) The We’s Like to Buy any and every car sites tend to be valuing vehicles BELOW these market values (based on my experience).
CASH does not necessarily mean the best deal. In fact, as a cash buyer you are limiting the potential income for a retailer and as such, they may discount the car, but overall, if you buy a car on finance, you become a far more positive prospect for them, which means if you want to buy additional items and other services, you may get a better overall deal.
